4 Months!

It's hard to believe 4 months have come and gone. The boys have grown so much and have already developed so much personality. Mason (on the right) looks like Kevin and acts just like me, Gavin on the other hand looks like me and acts just like Kevin. They are so much fun. Both boys have started to laugh and speak. We have whole conversations filled with coos. They are very responsive. And that's really all there is to report for now. We are getting professional photos done next weekend and I will post some of those pics as soon as I get them. Can't wait.

It Took 3 Attempts to Write this Post...

I actually sat to write this post 2 times prior to this morning. The babies were fussing both times to I aborted the mission at hand. So when you scroll down to see the date when the boys 3 month picture was taken and realize what day it is today you will know why.

The boys are 3.5 months old now. They are the most amazing creatures I have ever laid eyes on. They amaze me everyday. They now smile and coo, roll over from their tummy to their back. They have moved out of our bedroom and now sleep through the night in their own bed, Hallelujah. They are gaining weight, especially Mason. Oh and this week they have started to laugh a little.

Gavin, seen here loves his hand. He does not like his paci at all and so the battle begins. We had a scare about a week ago. We were told he might have synostosis, premature fusing of his skull. We had to starve him and keep him awake last Friday morning to get a CT scan done. We were so scared b/c if he had this it would require surgery which entailed cutting open his skull and removing the part that was fusing. We got a call later that day and everything came back normal. We were so relieved. On another note, Gavin loves flirting and being held. He is a big fan of being carried around in the Jeep Pack where he can see what is going on at all times.

Mason, see here has really bulked up. He now weighs more than his brother. He has come a long way from his once 4.7 lb little body. He was the first to roll from his tummy to his back. He loves to sleep and is a huge fan of his exercise mat. He also really likes getting his diaper changed - he kind of chuckles when we do it - So Funny! He is dying to start crawling. We are getting an exersaucer thing this weekend, mainly for him. He is so strong and tough already.

I can't imagine life without one of these boys. When I found out I was having twins, I was terrified. I was so worried about taking care of two babies and loving them both. Kevin and I are both so in love with them and thank God everyday for bringing us two miracles. Life is busy, don't get me wrong, but its a happy busy.

Last weekend we attended the NRHPD banquet. Earlier that week I picked my husband up from the ER. He got a concussion at work serving a warrant and like Gavin had to have a CT Scan as well. All was normal with him - it's a good thing he has such a hard head. He did have a little black eye to sport at the event. We had a great time on our big night out. Our Nanny Beverly who watches the boys during the week watched the boys for us. We are so grateful to have her. She is such a part of the family now.

Hopefully it won't be another month and a half before I get my next post written.

Still sleep a lot even at night (yay!)
Sleep side by side in the play yard in our parents room.
Can lift our heads.
Kick our feet.
Coo at mommy and daddy.
Smile and respond to a rattle and music.
Can roll from side to side.
Love our mobile and sound machines.
Like bath time.
Can track movements.
Enjoy swinging.
Will do tummy time if mommy makes us.
Have loved all of the visitors we've had.

Are a blessing to all who know us and love us.
Have enriched the lives of our parents more than they ever expected.
Make our parents laugh and cry because they are so in love with us.
Have so much to look forward to in life.
Are amazing, precious gifts from God.

My Babies Smell Like Cabbage Patch Dolls

Ladies, do you remember getting your first Cabbage Patch Doll? I am assuming here that most of you have had one at some point. Anyway...I remember mine. It was a Cabbage Patch baby version of the bigger doll. It came with a little cloth diaper and a set of instructions for how to care for your newborn baby. After carefully studying this masterpiece I was ready for make believe motherhood. I knew just what my baby needed. I fed her, changed her, loved on her and could not stop smelling her (I'm still not sure how they get them to smell like real babies). Ahhh, those were the days. Motherhood was so easy when your baby was a cloth doll and came with a set of instructions.

Although I didn't have the luxury of a set of instructions for Gavin and Mason I recently (as of this morning) found the equivalent for actual real babies. My sister sent me a DVD a while back called Dunston Baby Language. I set is aside and hoped to return to it once the boys were here. 6 weeks after delivery, I came across the DVD and decided now would be a good time to watch and learn. In all actuality a good time would have been 6 or more weeks prior to today. But hey, better late than never. After viewing the DVD I know better understand how to care for my babies (they do come with instructions). You see babies have 3 cries (or so I just learned). They cry "neh" when hungry, "owh" when tired, and "eh" when they need to burp. Who knew? While watching the DVD I noticed Mason "ehing" and burped him - SUCCESS! And I noticed Gavin "Owhing" and soothed him to sleep - SUCCESS again! So not only do I have my very own real life Cabbage Patch Babies but they actually do come with instructions - just don't tuck them away for 6 weeks like I did.
