Fun Times

They - whoever they are - say that laughter is the best medicine. And it is so true. I hope the above pic mad you laugh. The hub looks like marshmallow man. Laughter has really helped Kevin and I over the past weekend as we entered into the final stage of invito. On Friday my eggs were put back in. Everything went really well except the fact that you have to have a full bladder to do the procedure, and all I could do was pray I didn't pee on anyone especially my doctor. They let me "relieve" a little right before I went in and let me just say - hardest thing I have even done. You laugh - but next time just give it a try and see if you can stop short. I spent the rest of the weekend with my feet up and laid up in bed - no pun intended. Kevin did a great job taking care of me - he was a champ and never complained.

The only recent bump in the bumpy baby making road we have been on has been the administration of progesterone shots. These massive shots have to be given by someone other than yourself right in the backside. So for the last week and a half I have had 2 targets drawn on my behind to mark the spot. I can't see the shot - but I know it's big and in my mid it hurts bad. Luckily I have numbing cream so it doesn't hurt that bad - tonight I barely felt it. Well the other night MD in training - Kevin gave me my nightly shot. When he didn't rub the injection site like normal to prevent knotting - I started to panic b/c I knew something was wrong. Guess who hit a vein (I knew it could happen eventually) and guess who had a blood geyser overflowing from their bum? And, since I have been on a blood thinner to prevent clotting - it just didn't want to quit. All we could really do is wait and laugh at the look of sheer panic I had on my face when I realized what was wrong.

PS - We are excepting any prayers you would like to say for us as we wait to find the outcome of our procedure. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Big Day #1

So most of your know Kevin and I have been going through Invitro for the past month. Well this past Sunday we faced the big hurdle of "egg retrieval." For this process they actually put me under and went in there and got the little suckers out. I would have posted the pic Kevin snapped as I was about to go into the room - but it's pretty dorky. They made me wear the blue cap and everything.

When I finally came to - well just woke up, still incoherent - I said the following to the doctor's and nurses ...

"I am your biggest fan."
"You should get paid for this." - Yeah they so do!
"I am going to come back every week for these special naps."

Kevin said they laughed and then apparently I feel back asleep. I left a hour later feeling a little crampy but still hoped up on anesthesia. Oh - they told me before I left they were able to get out 14 eggs. Wow - I am an awesome mother hen. And later that day they would inject my precious eggs with a mate from my hubby. Man I am sharing a lot today.

The doctors called Tuesday to give me an update on the babies (I know they are just eggs). Of the 14, lucky 7 made it. Of the 7, 2 are eggcellent- cheesy I know, 4 are doing good and 1 is average. I don't entirely know what that means or how they got their unique status but way to go over achievers.

So tomorrow is the big day (well big day#1, next big day is when they tell me I am going to be a baby mama). We have decided to put 2 eggs back in. There is an 80% at least one egg will take, a 50% chance that they will both take, and 2% chance for those 2 to spilt and I would be home to 4 babies. Kevin said we are that 2% - Quads get ready!

My plan for the rest of the weekend is to relax, do a few headstands, have my chef of a hubby make me some fab meals, and yeah that's about it. I am really looking forward to my relaxing weekend.

I will keep you posted.

I Chose Poorly

Kevin and I were faced with a dilemma of what exactly we were going to do yesterday. We tossed up going to Granbury or facing the elephant in the backyard that we have ignored for the 3 years we have lived in our house. See below the lovely view we have each time we walk out our back door. 5 hours into the project I realized I chose poorly - still sore this morning and am still thinking I chose poorly.

Ladies, never trust your husband when he ropes you into a "little project" that should only take "a few hours." Unless you enjoy digging up dirt, hauling stones, and getting hot. Also never take on backyard projects when houses are being built around you. I hadn't told you yet - but we so had an audience. A couple workers were putting up shingles on 2 new houses that were going in around us. We heard them laugh at us several times. Well...from up high I am sure our little addition looked small (trust me - on the ground it was huge). I am sure they were thinking "what in the world are these two amateurs doing, and why in the world have they been out there all day?"

In the end this is what we were able to put together. Plants are on the to do list today. Any suggestions to disguises these lovely lawn accessories?

Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond - We'll See...

When I imagined that I as a teacher would always have spring breaks off...I always pictured I would spend each one of them on a beach (with a skinny little bod), a concoction in my hand, and a slew on admirers (hubby included). So how is it that I have yet to go anywhere close to tropical, my bod is a littlle on the less skinnier side, have run more errands than I'd like to admit, and am currently watching "The Mummy" with the adoring hubby???

So far this week I have gone to PB a few times, painted the underside of the island bar, painted the underside of the dinning room chair rail, picked out spring plants at Home Depot, gone out with friends for St. Patty's Day, and it's only Wednesday. Although I feel I have accomplished a lot - I still have the twinkle in my eye when I imagine where I'd really like to be.

Someday, somehow - I will make it to the tropical destination of my choice for Spring Break. Let's hope sooner than later. Right now I will just bask in my "Staycation." I am however looking forward to tomorrow excursion. Kev and I are headed to Granbury for a little shopping and hanging out. Maybe I'll find something beachy for the casa - that might help.

Acronyms

Okay so I am a teacher and anyone who knows anything about education you know all about these following acronyms...

IEP, LEP, ESL, ELL, ED, UEA, ATPE, SBEC, ISD, IST, RtI, - just to name a few. Those of you who are educators feel free to add more - I am on spring break right now so I am not entirely in my teacher frame of mind.

Now to the point of this blog. After my Dr. apt. today (BTW - everythings looking good) Kev and I drove around Ft. Worth looking for a local place to have lunch. We ended up at Gloria's -kind of local, but still yummy. On the way we passed a McDonald's. Kev jokingly pretended to pull in. At this point we both glanced up at their sign. To bad the light turned green or I would have a pic to post. Here's what it said.

Filet Fish Sandwich
EVM $4.99

At this point I am trying to figure out what EVM stands for when Kev blurts out Extra Value Meal. Wow. Not only do we live in a fast food nation (BTW I love McDonald's) but we can't even take the time to spell out Extra Value Meal. They don't mess around with time at Mcdy's. Guess that's why "We're Lovin' it!"

Wow - What a Day!

I have to confess, life has been a little too boring to blog about lately ... until today. I have returned with good news and happy thoughts.

To catch you up here is how this weeks events have played out to get me here today.

Monday - Kevin left me to go play SWAT GI Joe in Killeen for the week on Monday morning. Sad to see him go - but I usually don't see him during the week anyway so fairly normal there. Had my 2nd Invito apt. that morning as well. Doc was still checking to see if I started my cycle - hadn't yet. I was told that most likely we would not be able to go through with the procedure and we would have to get on the next boat in May. Returned to work utterly devastated, praying I would start. I have never in my life wanted to start so bad. Weird feeling to actually be praying to God to bring that on. Waited - still nothing.

Tuesday - Nothing to report. Still waiting, wondering what Kevin and I will do over spring break since we had planned to make a baby.

Wednesday - Called doctor at 8:00 in my grumpiest/saddest voice (I was told by the nurse later) to report still nothing and let's go ahead and plan to do it in May. 9:30 - Started feeling uncomfortable, a little uneasy, ran to the ladies and what do you know??? 10:45 finally made it to the doctor's. They confirmed I had started and they said to start the big meds tomorrow. It's a go!!! I returned to work giddy as could be. Finished my small group testing (that I ran out on - my partner covered me thank goodness), left work, ran some errands, and came home to relax. Finally something to blog about.

Reality TV Love

Poor misguided people looking for love (AKA - Jason, Melissa, & Molly). Silly singles, don't they know things never work out on Reality TV shows. I know what it is - I bet it's the blindingly hot camera lights that jades them all up. I feel like that with floresent lights at times so I guess I feel their pain. Future Bachelor/Bachlorette contestants (yes it is a contest boys and girls) save yourself the heart ache and plant some rose bushes - try knockout roses. They are easy to maintain and don't come with a side of heartache - so I am told.

How did we ever make it without TV shows like this. They, right in front of our eyes rewriting the rules of dating. Did you know that you could have 25 gals or guys competing to win your love - just to be told they chose poorly. And when the do go back on their choice why don't they give you a parting house plant - how rude. It's the least they could do.

Soap box time!!! There is nothing real about reality. It is a state of mind - a perception if you may. Granted - it is fun to watch on tv - but these people are getting paid to be real. Where's my paycheck I say? Where's yours??? Here's to really being real.
