Alright friends I have a confession to make. I Kelli Palmer am obsessed with all things vampire!!! I am not sure what it is about them, but I just can't get enough. I read the first 3 Twilight books in one week several months back (they were all 500+ page boos might i add). It took me a month to read the 4th and last book in the Twilight series. I stretched it out b/c I knew I would be devastated once it was over. Which I am still trying to recover from. I made my poor husband take me to see the movie the night it came out. I will admit it wasn't what I thought it was going to be but I heart it anyway. I later bought it (twice) through On-Demand because I couldn't get enough.
I was turned on to the HBO series True Blood by a co-worker a month ago. Luckily I didn't know is was based on a book or no one would have seen or heard from me until I had read them all. I watched the first season (12 episodes) in 24 hours. Seriously - do you see the obsession??? I was on pins and needles waiting to season 2 to began. I almost cried when I realized there wasn't a show this week b/c of the holiday.
Here's where it gets worse. Another friend got me started reading the Argeneua Vampire series. I read book 2 mistakenly out of order in one day. It was so good I got up and headed to Barnes and Noble to get the rest (thank heavens there are like 11 books in this series) this morning. Lucky me.
But here's where my obsession is starting to embarrass me....
I wandered in B&N looking for this new series by Lynsay Sands. I headed to Fiction/Lit. and located the "S" author section only to find my beloved new author was nowhere to be found. Instead of checking another section (which I thought it clearly could not be) I headed to the help desk. I saw a gal working there when I walked by and thought she could help me out. I guess she took a break b/c there in her place was a gentleman my age. I politely went up and asked him if he could help me locate the author. I spelled it and he checked and said he had no listing. He then said he needed a book title to look her up. I then gulped and for the sake of my obsession for all things vampire responded..."Single, White, Vampire" - the name of the book I was looking for. Sure glad I didn't tell him the other "Tall, Dark, and Hungry." By now I am flushed and mortified that I have become so obsessed I would risk public embarrassment to get my hands on these books. I did say to him in my sweetest bubbly voice "Please don't judge." In the end my new series was located in the Romance Fiction section - which the gentleman proceeded to take me personally over too. How humiliating! However...I did get a book. I have learned a valuable lesson here though - just order online - that way no one has to know what embarrassing things you may be reading.
Fellow vampire obsessed friends I know you feel my pain. You other people - read a vampire book and you will be hooked.
PS - I so got a pedi after I got the book just for a excuse to begin reading. :)
