Schoooools Out for...Wednesday!

I got the call at 10:00 last night that school was officially canceled for tomorrow - that would be today. I won't say that I was ecstatic b/c I was really looking forward to having the 4 days over Easter Weekend, but hey I won't refuse a day off. You know most of the time when school is cancelled for weather - teachers/kids can usually still get to school and the school district it just trying to be extra cautions. We in this case I am thankful to be inside and not out on the ice/sand covered roads. Kevin still has to go to school today in Arlington and we had to use some force to even get his door open. His truck doesn't fit in the garage - poor guy. Still waiting on the call to let me know they made it there safely.

So the real question I face now is what to do for the duration of the day. Clean the house - too much effort. Work on my new ISt schedule - probably later. Watch TV - daytime television - boring. Work on my blog - so just finished making it fabulous (hope you all like it and it's easier to read). Publish a post - doing it right now. Make breakfast - too much effort. Lounge and finish reading Remember Me? by Sophia Kinsella (author of Shopaholic) - Actually sounds good. So... I think I'll turn on the fire (ours is electric and so you really just turn it on) and curl and read. After all I don't want to overload myself on my day off.

Friends in Ft. Worth - I hope you have a great day off as well. Be careful and safe if you venture out in this frigid weather.

Friends/Family not in Ft. Worth - Know that I am safe and inside where I should be.

Yeah for Comments!

Hey friends. I just wanted to say thank you so much for all your comments. I was so excited to read them. Thanks Kim for helping me make my blog so cute! I hope you are all doing well. It's freezing in Ft. Worth right now. I am snuggled up by the fire writing away. Anyway - talk to you soon.

The Cooks Come to Town!

Hey hey... I'm back. Yeah it's been a while since my last blog. Blame it on life. But I now have something to blog about. This past weekend Kev and I hosted my sister Barb, her hubby Bill, and her bun in the oven. Although it was a fast and furious weekend, it was so worth it. B&B came in town (my parents were supposed to as well - but someones mom just had to have surgery) on Thursday and left yesterday afternoon. We showed them a fabulous time on Friday down at the stockyards (but then again who doesn't have fun there). We could not have asked for better weather - 80 degress - not so much on Saturday - 40 degrees. Bill tried calf fries, Barb refused go figure. We ended our outing trying on cowboy hast and headed home for a quick little BBQ. Friday night the Cooks rocked out at the ACDC concert - Kev and I called it an early night - we were preparing for Saturday. Saturday we showed them our fabulous downtown Ft. Worth and all it has to offer. We ended our night eating Sushi in Southlake. The waitresses really liked Bill. I think they thought he was famous. And come to think of it so did some guy at the Saucer. It just goes right to his head. So that was our fast and furious weekend.
Kevin and I will make a trip to Florida in 2 weeks to attend one of Barbs baby showers (maybe they will have picked out a name by then). For those of you that don't know Barb is having a boy William - not sure about the middle name - Cook jr. jr. Send any fabulous boy names - they will call him by his middle name. Anyway - we are arriving on Friday night at 11:00 and leaving Sunday at noon. Talk about fast and furious. But dad keeps saying it will be a mini Winn vacation (we go on a big one every year) so I'll take it. Can't wait to see them all again.

Starting a Family - The First Steps

By the time this blog is sent out to "our people" I am hoping I have some good news to report. After reading Christy's blog I felt inspired to write about what has happened in the last 2 years with the Palmer journey of making a baby. Thank you so much Christy for being a sounding board.

Two years ago Kevin and I decided that we were ready to expand our family and give Abbie a little brother or sister. Well you know what they (whoever that is) say, the best laid plans... After months passed and without a pregnancy we began to wonder if we might have and issue. We waited until it had been a year and made the dreaded appointment. to get referred to a specialist. Before going to our current doctor, we both underwent several tests - mine very painful, Kevin's - not much. They really have it so easy. We were informed that there was in fact an issue and we would need some assistance in conceiving. Three months later we met with our new fertility specialist Dr. Kaufman. Well guess what - he determined there were no issues. What a yo-yo. Immedeintly he put us on the fast track to trying IUI. The following month we had the procedure and waited patiently for the results. I guess it just wasn't time for us just yet. We were very sad and left wondering why. Kevin came home from work that day, we ordered take out and called it a day.

Still positive, we decided to try IUI the following month - Oct. (this time having to give myself daily injections in my belly - ouch). And even with the extra hormones I only had one major meltdown - who would have thought - over Dry Cleaning. More waiting followed the procedure and after some blood work, at 5:00 I got the call - not this time (again). Sometimes it's hard to believe that two people who love each other, are devoted to each other, and want a family could have so much trouble. But it happens and is what so many of us go through - my prayers go out to you as well.

Two months have passed and still we wait. Remember December 24th as a child. Well that's how I feel every time I take a pregnancy test. Kevin and I will keep trying, our next step is Invitro (if we are not prego this month). We are scared of going through it not knowing the outcome, but we keep trucking knowing the end result is a family. All we can do is pray and have faith in God that when the time is right he will bless us.

So there you have it. To those that will read this, thank you for your prayers and thoughts and just being a shoulder for me and use to lean on.

New Years Resolutions

Raise your hand if you have made a New Year's Resolution and already broken it?? I know - not in a classroom - but guilty. This New Year I have decided that I will use better manners, eat better, exercise more, and in general be more lady like. So far I have not exercised, eaten the same, used no better manners than before, and am still acting like the same ol' me. But...I am about to head out for a Weight Watcher meeting, in which I will have to exercise, I will be friendly and pleasant to the receptionists, and I will put on my new Christmas digs that are very lady like. So there you have it - Let's see if I can make it through the day.

As for Kevin - hes has not yet said what his resolution is. I will inquire this afternoon and get back with you.

Here's to hoping you all stick with yours!

Okay, talked with the Hubby and here's what he said. His New Years Resolution is to be nice to his wife. Awwww! I asked if that was it, he replied, "Yeah I don't want to overwhelm myself." How Kevin.

P.S. - I went to Weight Watchers. I won't tell you what I weighed in at, just that I will be going to weekly meetings from here to eternity.

Ahh...The Season Has Come and Almost Gone

Let me start off by saying, Wow I created my own Blog. How cool am I. My husband Kevin and I never quite caught the wave of myspace or facebook, so I am excited about this simple and to the point form of communicating with family and friends. And regardless of the category you fall in, let us start our bloggin' by saying, we hope you had a safe and blessed holiday season.

Kevin and I made the 9 hour trek to the valley with Abbie in tow. We celebrated the Holidays with my in-laws and the Linns at their Ranch and The Palmers in Alamo. Much fun was had by all, and much food was consumed by us (See New Year's Resolutions). After Christmas we headed down to Port Isabelle (South Padre Island) for some fun in the sun (yeah it was close to 90 degrees there). We celebrated my Father-in-laws Birthday at Pier Street Pub (live music and fish tacos were enjoyed by all). Before we knew it, back to Ft. Worth we were heading. My Parents, brother Seth, and my Aunt and Uncle met us for dinner and had our 4th Christmas celebration (Kevin and I had ours before we left). Seth, I will learn how to play Rock Band and will try not to get us booed off again. To the Winn family - get ready for Thanksgiving next year, cause were coming that way.

Thank you everyone for being a part of our life. We love you and can't wait till we see you again. P.S. We have two spare bedrooms - so come visit us. Now time to go tackle taking down to tree.
