It Looks Like an Owl!!!

Kevin and I went to the Dr. on Friday for our first sono. I will admit I was not entirely prepared for the results we were blessed with.

Almost immediately after poor Dr. Kaufman started the whole thing, and before he could confirm what is now brewing inside me, I announced to the room - "Oh my god, there's 2." At this point high fives were shared by all and the flood of tears began to rain out of my eyes like Niagra Falls. He checked to make sure there weren't 3 - and it's just the two. You can see in the picture the owl that now lives inside of me.

Although I knew 2 was a possibility, I never thought it a reality. I then announced to the room as the tears keep coming - "I'm going to be gynormous!" Kevin's response - "Yes but beautiful!" I will ask him again month 8 and see if he is still sticking to that.

I HATE Airlines!

I am going to take a moment of your time to vent about the cruel unjust mishap I had yesterday trying to fly down to the in-laws for a party. Kevin and I planned a trip down to the valley so Kev could attend his Granddad's 80th man birthday party. We both got home from work, packed, ate dinner and headed to DFW to catch out 8:15 flight. Here's where the story goes airy.

Do you ever have those moments when you can sense something is going to happen? Well I had it as Kevin missed our terminal exit (one of 8) and we had to reroute ourselves just to park the car. We arrived, checked in, and got to our gate. At about 7:30 our flight disappeared from the gate sign. Like the lovely non-overreacting wife, I sent Kevin to investigate. He came back and delivered the news. The flight from Ontario just left, which is the flight that we will take down to the valley. I checked with Kevin to make sure that they were referring to the Ontario in Canada. And yep - that's the one. So why in all tarnation wouldn't they have informed us 5 hours sooner when the flight never left. Our flight got pushed back to a 1:00 departure time. OMG I am an in bed by 9:30 kind of gal, how am I going to make it in a crummy airport chair until 1:00? Not to mention I worked a full day and am now exhausted.

Well, sadly at about 10:30, after moving 3 times to different terminals (yes that is how many times our gate changed) I finally threw in the towel. Teary and hormonal I apologized to Kevin as he now tried to get our bags back. Due to the craziness of the airport over a little rain they said it would take 2 hours to get our bag. So Kev ran me home and headed back to the airport to get our bag only to return home 2 hours later empty handed. Our bag was on its way to the valley.

Finally, at 2:00 today we were able to leave the airport once and for all with our bags in hand. And thank goodness - that's where all my make up was. Luckily it will be a few months before we have to fly again. Unluckily, we missed the party. Happy 80th Birthday Bobby!

The Cowboy Capitol of the World

The hub and I headed down to San Antonio this past weekend. It's the halfway point between his parents house and ours so when we get the chance we head south and they head north and we meet in the middle.

We met up on Friday afternoon, got checking in to the Hotel, got Abbie (the dog) situated, and headed out to shop. They boys (hubbies) didn't last long so it was short lived. We headed back to take care of the dogs and them took care of ourselves with dinner.

On Saturday we hopped in the car and drove around some of the surrounding cities (Beorne, Media & Bandera). By the way Bandera is know as the cowboy capitol of the world. They are very proud of this "award" (I guess you would call it that) and preceded to put it on everything. While walking around I saw it on signs, napkins, koozies (of course), brochures, t-shirts (I passed on that one), even a necklace (I hope no one ever buys), and drum roll ... a rub on tattoo. Wow!

While in Bandera guess who I met getting ready to stroll down main street? Oh yeah... a long horn. Only in Texas would this not surprise me but inspire part of this post. I had to post his lovely pic. below. My husband and father-in-law laughed at me while taking it, so I took the next shot. They weren't smiling - but I was. Ha - antiques.

Sadly Sunday was spent driving home. Abbie was happy about that. She thoroughly enjoys visiting new places - as do most dogs, but loves coming home to her bed. She is such a human. Now back to work the Kev and I. 3 more days till Friday.

Introducing My New Nephew

This is my new nephew William Kane Cook. He was born this past Friday. My sister was such a champ. She, with a little help from some lovely medication had no complications with her delivery and was released to go home on Sunday. Kane is what we will all call him, William is a family name - he's the 3rd. Anyway - he weighed 6 lbs and 6 oz. He is doing well. I wish I could have been there but that side of my family lives in Florida and Kevin and I were trying to make our own baby with the help of Dr. Kaufman. He is absolutely adorable and I can't wait to meet him in person. I would have posted pics earlier but I was waitin for them myself.

PS - My sister looks like a model in the picture and she just had a baby - so not fair is it.

Lowfat Cheese Doesn't Melt

Tonight like most nights I prepared a semi homemade meal of rotisserie chicken (from the grocery) and made twice baked mashed potatoes (using my new fav find - steam and mash potatoes from the freezer section). I added some bacon, green onion, cheese, and the reg stuff for making mashed potatoes. I popped them in the oven to bake - there you go. Now all was going well until I realized I had been checking on the potatoes for 30 min. and the cheese wasn't melting. I finally picked up on my error. Low fat - low taste - low calorie cheese doesn't melt. It just kind of sits there on the surface. So I pulled the dish out of the oven - rapidly stirred it to help aid in the melting process and TADA - ready to go. They actually turned out great. Kevin had 3 servings.

Moral of the story - stick with regular cheese. And try the Steam and Mash Potatoes from your freezer section - I will never do it the "old fashioned" was again. Now I cheat.
