Panels That Pop

So I was kinda over the study's tab top curtains. Over enough that I thought I would give it the old college try and make pop out curtains (not sure the official name). I love the linen fabric I found at Joann's. I was able to use the panels as my guide (that saved a bunch of time measuring - not my cup o tea anyway). They turned out super. The right one photographed better so that's why you are only seeing the one side. But the other is there for sure!

3 Things I'm Lovin

1. The buy one frame get one for a penny frame sale at Aaron Brothers that sparked my lil master bedroom update. Of course I did get a fourth frame - not photographed.
I just love type words!
The first time I printed this photo I made it a little too large. It made me think of the "Man Hands" episode of Seinfeld. Lol.
The hubs has always been able to make me laugh!
This wall used to have 2 huge brown painted squares with tin tiles hanging inside them. It was cute but made the room a little dark. I am really lovin the new look.
2. My Freckled Laudry Monogram. It is just precious! Smells so good too. Check out all of her creations and blog at http://www.freckledlaundry.com/.
3. Don't judge - The Twilight Bath and Body Works Collection. It smells amazing and I am kinda addicted to it! No seriously - I have already sprayed it more than once today.

I want...

"I want" is a common phrase I utter. So much so my husband joked before the boys were born that their first words were going to be "I want."
Well a girl can want, can't she? This wire basket has been in the mental shopping cart from the moment I first laid eyes on her in my Pottery Barn catalog.
If she were mine she would live in our master bedroom. She would hold pillows and blankets. She would be mine right now if she weren't $$$.
But for now she will continue daunting me as she appears in PB catalogs that show up on my doorstep. Maybe if I manifest it she will just show up one day...

Eye Sore No More

We had a little, kinda big, eye sore of a side yard well..since we moved it. Because it was a small space we were able to just kind of overlook the fact that the grass was always patchy and our lovely lab Abbie turned it into a mud pit at even the slightest rain fall. And although it was 100 plus degrees out today we finally decided to do something about it.
We cleared, we trimmed, we laid down weed barrier, we staked it to the ground, we mulched, we laid paver stones, we planted, and we remulched. We are tired, we are sore, we can't believe it took us this long to do it, and we are super happy how it turned out.
Here is our spruced up side yard.
Oh and we also made some barriers using metal dividers. Hope this helps keep the mulch contained.
I have never grown hydrangeas - hope they do well.
Can't remember the name of this guy and his sister - but I sure dig them!
Loving the pop of coral.
The pavers make a nice lil walkway.
One more shot.
Here is the view off our porch (to the the left and back). Excuse the patchy grass - a french drain is underneath and sucks every bit of water from it. But honestly - I would rather have dry grass then the marsh that once was there.
My little herb garden. Still learning what works well in clay. My tomato plant is doing great. It produced one huge red tomato that I was just about to pick. I was super sad to see that one of our resident bunnies beat me to it.
Oregano - can't wait to dry this out and have the hub make some homemade spaghetti sauce with it - he has mad skills.
Oh Basil - you make pizza so much better. I hate replanting you every year but you are worth it.
Another eye sore. Of all the houses in our neighbor hood - we got stuck with these beautiful utility caps. This is our attempt at dealing with them.
The bees are already loving these gals. Uh oh.

St. Augustine, FL

We just got back from our fabulous Winn Family Vaca in St. Augustine, FL where my parents live. We spent 4 fun filled days there living it in the oldest most beautiful city in America.
Day 1 - Kayaking & Paddle Boarding at Anastasia Park.
I think I will have to print this out in black and white???
So Serious!
Not so sure what to think of it all???
My sweet nephew Kane preparing for a ride.
Paddle boarding is really a lot harder than they made it look here - just ask my dad.
We had our own private beach for the morning.
The walk up to the beach was lined with wild flowers.
Day 2 - We boated in the Atlantic.
The boys loved the boat ride.
Nap time!
M just ran and ran up and down the beach where we stopped to have lunch. Seriously - back and forth back and forth. He never tired of it.
Anchors Away!
We had dinner at Hurricane Harry's. A big thanks to my sister, mom, and the hubs for shucking part of it.
A very proud Gigi & Poppy! 2 out of 3 looking isn't bad right?
What a great night.
My sister Barbara and her hubby Bill. Love the boat's name behind them. LOL. Boaters are funny!
Cousin love! How sweet are they?
It is really getting tough to get them both looking forward at the same time.
Day 3 - Downtown St. Augustine with my sister and our boys. This is a pic from the our boat ride of the Fort.
They boys got a kick out of playing at the Fort. Me - I was a nervous wreck that someone was going to take a tumble of the stone ledges.
St. George Street - Such history.
Fresh Flowers were everywhere.
This gate detail caught my eye.
Day 4 - Another trip downtown. Can't get enough of it.
Day 5 - We headed home (today - I think).
Thanks again mom and dad for the lovely Christmas gift. Memories make the most cherished presents. I am looking forward to the Winn Family Vaca 2012 already!
