Yes, I Bought My Own Flowers

So today is Thursday and this week seems like its never going to end. Over the next three days I will work my school carnival, host a birthday for by BFF's little girl from OK at my house, and co host a baby shower. In preparation I stopped at the store and after several minutes of pondering which flowers would make the perfect spring bouquet I snagged these two bunches. Not sure what they are called and didn't bother to look. As I walked out of the store and loaded my few grocery bags and flowers into my ride this nice man (who obviously felt sorry for me since I had to buy my own flowers) offered to take my cart back for me. Thank you Mr. you are a sweetie. So for now I sit an relax a bit while the babies nap trying not to think about what needs to be cleaned, cooked, folded, wiped down, or wrapped. Mason jars make the best vases!

My simple spring mantle.
I finally found a use for my PB cache pots.

For the Love of Books

I am not sure if it is the teacher in my or something I inherited, but I can't get enough of old books. I just love that they have history, come in a wide range of colors (although the ones I buy seem to be khaki, blue or red), have such great titles, and are cheap ways to decorate. Here are a few pics of books around our house.

They made their way into the boys room. Makes the PB clock even cuter. Um..lol...you can see my reflection.
My newest set! I snagged the bible for $7. It is my priciest old book to date but I couldn't pass it up.

I will admit I do read via the ipad a lot these days. I hate to think that hardback books will one day be obsolete. At least I will have these just in case.

Porch Love

This past weekend my mom came for a visit. Translation - my house/front/back porch gets a little face lift. I love her visits which usually involve trips to Potterybarn, the antique mall down the street, and help with the boys (the hubs worked all weekend - so extra hands were a blessing). Here are a few pics of the front porch. I was able to snap these pics in the light drizzle we received today - all day. More pics of the house and back porch will come as soon as it dries up a bit.

I have been on the lookout for the perfect bench to replace the bistro set we previously had out here. Lowes had this beauty. I fell in love and bought it without hesitation. Thank you mom for letting my use your Military discount to buy this beauty and all of the pillows we snagged! Isn't this crown pot the cutest?

Meet our new asparagus fern. Isn't she lovely!

I am linking up to A Bowl full of lemons!

My New Canisters/What's for Dinner

I admit I have a love of canisters. I did a quick count to discover I have 5 sets scattered throughout the house. Some might say I have a problem, some might say I am one lucky lil decorator. My MIL had ordered this beauty (along with 2 friends) a while back, but Mrs. Mackenzie Childs received a few too many requests for them and decided to perfect mine and make it available in time for my spring break trip to the valley. Thanks Stacey & Mackenzie! I am still deciding what to do with its mates - the right spot will reveal itself in due time I am sure.
Tonight's dinner is brought to you/well us by Rudy and his great BBQ sauce. The hubs in manning the BBQ and slathering this first class sauce on some chicken as we speak. I did my part by making the salad below. Mmmm. Hope he hurries up.

So Hoppy!!!

Aren't these the cutest lil baskets? I just love em. G and M can thank their Grandma for hooking them up. I think they are even cuter because there are 2 of them! That's the twin mama in me speaking. I have a little while to teach them how to use it so they will be ready for the big event.

I am so glad winter is seemingly behind us. We have already started readying the house for the transition. I got a big dose of spring fever last weekend. I roped the hubs into helping me clean out the attic, mulch our flower beds, and dewinterize our closets. He was a huge help and deserves many gold stars. It's a good thing we got so much done. We are heading south for spring break to visit the valley and it will be so nice to go with all of this done already. Hope every one has a great week! Hoppy spring to ya!
