I Just Can't Get Enough of Them

We are so happy to be home. They boys are settling in just fine. Here are a few pics of us coming home and one of the boys once we were got there.

Here are a few things I have learned so far...

1. Babies go through a lot of laundry

2. Changing diapers is harder than you think

3. If you don't change the diaper the right way - you pay the price (Poor Gavin changes clothes often).

4. You can never have enough swaddling blankets

5. Babies will not always tell you when they are hungry, but will tell you when they are wet

6. The sound soother (that makes the womb sound) works on grown ups to

7. A good nights sleep consists of several small increments of time (yay for the 3 hours we got last night)

8. Coming home is harder than you could ever imagine

9. The love you have for your children is so overwhelming it can bring you to tears - a lot of tears - all the time

10. The love you have for your husband will never be stronger than when you see him as a father

Mason & Gavin - We love you and are so glad you are home with us. We look forward to raising you and loving you more than you will ever know. We thank the Lord for the riches he has given us. He made you possible.

Welcome Gavin & Mason!!!

We are happy to announce the arrival of Gavin Daniel and Mason Thomas. They arrived at 5:25 and 5:27 on Friday November 20th. Gavin was born first, weighs 5.8 lbs and is 16 inches long. Mason followed weighing 5.3 lbs and is 17.5 inches long. Both boys are healthy and strong. Mason had to spend his first night in the nursery. He had a little fluid in his lungs and had some trouble transitioning. He was allowed to join us in our room yesterday morning and has been fine since.

We had planned for an arrival date of Nov. 30th via C Sec. But when we went to the Dr. on Thursday and realized I was dilated and reading to have them, we scheduled a C Sec. for Friday at noon. The boys decided that wasn't soon enough. My water broke that night at around 1:30. We headed to the hospital and met out boys shortly there after.

I will tell you I was quite nervous about everything. 1. Having a C Sec. 2. Caring for 2 babies 3. Nursing, and those were just the big fears. But I am happy to say that the C Sec. was great and I am recovering just fine. I can't imagine having not had 2 babies and they are both so perfect and have been so easy. And nursing 2 babies simultaneously is going so smoothly. The Dr. even said we could go home today (only 48 hours after surgery). We are opting to stay another day. They have way better drugs here than at home and it is quite relaxing being here with all this help.

Thank you so much to our family and friends who have stopped by, called and e-mailed to wish us well. Are boys are so blessed to have you in their lives already. If you haven't met the boys yet - we can't wait for you to do so and if you have come on back for another visit soon.

We made it!!!

When we started this adventure of making a family I never dreamed we would have to cross so many hurdles, get pregnant with twins, and have such a blessed pregnancy. But here we are at 36 weeks, full term for twins. I a, tentatively scheduled for C-Section on November 30th (38 weeks - the Dr. kindly won't let me go past that). If I can make it another 2 weeks, we will be holding and loving on our sweet little boys by this time that day.

I have been feeling pretty uncomfortable this past week. Little things like putting on socks, loosing my breath, and sleeping soundly have definitely been a struggle. My edema has not let up and I feel like I am walking around with stumps for legs. I keep reminding myself that it is all worth it, and I am only days away from wrapping this pregnancy up.

If you noticed I have said the word "we" several times already in this post. Kevin has truly been my rock throughout these past 40 weeks (I included the month it took use to get pregnant with IVF). He has made every Dr. appointment, he helps with all the chores without hesitating or complaining. He has listened to me vent about my worries and fears and has comforted me all along the way. A lot of couples will talk about how who their baby will look like - not me. The only wish I have ever had for them is that they take after their dad. I couldn't not have molded a better husband or father to be. I know I have posted about Kevin's silliness and his trickery, but those memorable moments have gotten us through it all. Updates

We made it to 35 weeks. I am as of today 35 weeks and 3 days. Also as of today the babies are weighing in at 5.8 and 5.3 lbs. They are both still boys (I made the Dr. check just to be sure). The Dr. did ask if I wanted a script for bed rest, but I declined. I can tough it out for a few more days.

We to the best of our knowledge are as ready as two new parents expecting twins can be. We have had a few hiccups in the past week finding a pediatrician, but think we have figured something out. We found a fabulous Nanny that will start the 3rd week in January - when I will go back to work. She is going to come to the house to watch the boys. The piece of mind she is giving us alone is worth gold. The hospital bags are somewhat packed. Christmas shopping is done except for 3 gifts (which I know just have yet to snag). We still need to get the boys gifts. I know they won't know - but we can't pass up their first Christmas. We are thinking about getting each boy a boy for each of us and writing a special message for them in it. If you have any other suggestions please send them my way. I did finish making their stockings this week. I was able to use their nursery fabric. So when they grow out of their bedding (don't want to think of that) we will have a reminder of when they were little every holiday season.
